The largemouth bass is South Africa's most popular sport fish. Originally introduced from North America, bass have thrived in SA's warm-water dams and impoundments. Known for explosive strikes and aerial acrobatics, they offer exciting catch-and-release fishing year-round.
Habitat
Warm-water dams, impoundments, and slow-moving rivers. Bass prefer structure such as submerged trees, weed beds, rocky points, and drop-offs. Water temperatures between 18–26°C are ideal.

Regulations
