Carp are the heavyweights of South African freshwater fishing. These powerful, hard-fighting fish can grow to enormous sizes and provide incredible battles on light tackle. Carp fishing has a massive following in SA, with dedicated specimen hunters targeting trophy fish.
Habitat
Found in almost every dam, lake, river, and canal in South Africa. Carp thrive in warm, nutrient-rich waters and can tolerate a wide range of conditions. They prefer muddy bottoms, weed beds, and shallow bays.
